The Econometrics and Statistics Group meets regularly to discuss progress and problems in on-going research. The range of interests within the group is broad, encompassing various applied and theoretical areas of econometrics and statistics.
Economic Measurement Group
The appropriate measurement of economic variables and phenomena is essential to the study of economics. This group is dedicated to improving measurement techniques in economics to more accurately reveal empirical facts.
Economic Policy and Equity Group
The three main areas of research for this group are the development and critique of measures of inequality, income distribution and economic growth in the Asia-Pacific area and the influence of various factors on income distribution in Australia.
Economic Theory Group The Economic Theory Group fosters research in new areas of Economic Theory and encourages cooperative investigations of new ideas. Current research areas include market structure, strategy, trade, uncertainty, organisation, contracting and game theory.
Energy, Natural Resources and the Environment Group
Major research areas are environmental accounting, fisheries economics, project appraisals, international energy markets, economic instruments and the environment, and international commodity markets.
Health Economics Group
This research group is actively involved in developing, applying and evaluating economic and econometric methods for analysing the behaviour of patients, providers, managers and other decision makers in the health system.
Labour Economics Group
The primary aim of the Labour Economics Group is to provide an informal forum for the exchange of information and ideas, and to encourage and facilitate co-operative research, in areas relevant to Labour Market issues and analysis.
Macroeconomics Group
Macroeconomics is the study of aggregate economic variables such as employment, output, inflation, the balance of payments, interest rates, exchange rates and economic growth. Research is conducted both by individuals and groups on related areas of inquiry.
Retirement Economics Group
The research programme of the Group encompasses the entire spectrum of retirement issues, from the economic impacts of policy initiatives to retirement income products and the pension industry itself.
