At the beginning of each semester the EDU offers the Principles of Tutoring Program to all new tutors in the Australian School of Business. It is a requirement of the Faculty that all new tutors attend the program and tutors are remunerated for their participation.
The Program includes three modules. The focus of the first module is “Preparing to Tutor”; the second module explores strategies for “Facilitating Interaction”; and the third module focuses on “Self-managing”. These are offered as half-day workshops in the first four or five weeks of the session. The program is contextualized, relevant, well-informed by Business needs and culture, and in touch with the learning needs of Business students. Tutors are introduced to certain “principles” that underlie effective facilitation of classes and, wherever possible, these are embedded within the specific context of the tutors’ classes.
Having fulfilled all the requirements of the program, it is possible to receive a Certificate of Completion of the Principles of Tutoring Program.
